How to Measure Your Wall
Accurate measurements are the foundation of a perfect mural. Follow every step before placing your order.
Identify & Inspect Your Wall
Choose where your mural will live and confirm the surface is ready before taking any measurements.
The wall must be smooth, clean, and dry — free of texture, peeling paint, moisture, or debris.
Measure the Width
Measure the full width at the widest point. Walls are rarely perfectly straight — measure at the top, middle, and bottom. Use the largest number.
Measure the Height
Measure floor to ceiling. If height varies across the wall — common in older homes — always record the tallest measurement to ensure full coverage with no gap.
Add Your Extra Allowance
Add 2–3 inches to both width and height before ordering. This prevents gaps, allows for alignment, and gives you material to trim. Do not skip this step.
Enter Measurements & Select Your Image Section
Enter your final measurements into the Immersive Walls calculator and select the design area you want printed. Customer-controlled and final once production begins — review carefully.
Note Doors, Windows & Outlets
Identify all wall features — windows, doors, outlets, and vents. These are cut around during installation. Do not subtract them from your measurements. Always use the full wall dimensions.
Tools You'll Need
How to Install Your Mural
Designed for DIY. No professional needed — just patience and these six steps.
Begin at the top corner. Peel back a small section and position carefully — gravity helps keep it aligned as you work downward.
Slowly peel the backing downward while pressing the mural against the wall. Never pull or stretch — let it lay naturally.
Match each new panel carefully to the previous one. Sections can be gently peeled back and repositioned if needed.
Matching artwork across panels
Lay all panels on the floor in order before you begin. This lets you see how the artwork flows across each seam — and understand the panel sequence — before committing to the wall.
Tips for Best Results
Keep these in mind before ordering and during installation.
Measure Twice, Order Once
Double-check width and height before placing your order. Measurements and image selection are final once production begins.
Don't Rush the Application
Slow, deliberate application produces the best results. The peel-and-stick backing gives you enough working time to position carefully.
Mind the Room Conditions
Avoid high-humidity or grease-heavy areas. Do not install directly behind stoves or in steam-filled bathrooms.
Inspect All Panels First
Review every panel for defects before touching the wall. Once installed, murals cannot be returned.
Repositioning is Possible
Small adjustments can be made by gently peeling back and repositioning. Work slowly — never yank or stretch the material.
